▸ 很久以前hěn jiǔ yǐ qián，先知xiān zhī李海lǐ hǎi住zhù在zài耶路撒冷yē lù sā lěng。

A long time ago, the prophet Lehi lived in Jerusalem.

▸ 城里chéng lǐ的de人rén不bù听tīng神shén的话de huà。

The people in the city did not listen to God's words.

▸ 神shén告诉gào sù李海lǐ hǎi：“你nǐ要yào带dài家人jiā rén离开lí kāi这里zhè lǐ。”

God told Lehi, "You must take your family and leave this place."

▸ 李海lǐ hǎi就jiù带着dài zhe家人jiā rén离开lí kāi了le城市chéng shì。

So Lehi took his family and left the city.

▸ 后来hòu lái，神shén对duì李海lǐ hǎi说shuō：“你的nǐ de儿子ér zi们men要yào回去huí qu拿ná铜tóng页片yè piàn。”

Later, God said to Lehi, "Your sons must go back to get the brass plates."

▸ 铜tóng页片yè piàn上shàng写xiě着zhe神shén的话de huà。

God's words were written on the brass plates.

▸ 尼腓ní féi是shì李海lǐ hǎi的de儿子ér zi。

Nephi was Lehi's son.

▸ 哥哥gē ge们men说shuō：“太tài难nán了le！我们wǒ men做不到zuò bù dào。”

His older brothers said, "It is too hard! We cannot do it."

▸ 尼腓ní féi说shuō：“神shén要yào我wǒ做的zuò de事shì，我wǒ一定yī dìng去做qù zuò。”

Nephi said, "What God asks me to do, I will go and do."

▸ “我wǒ知道zhī dào神shén会huì帮助bāng zhù我们wǒ men。”

"I know God will help us."

▸ 他们tā men回到huí dào耶路撒冷yē lù sā lěng，可是kě shì拿ná不到bù dào铜tóng页片yè piàn。

They went back to Jerusalem, but they could not get the brass plates.

▸ 有yǒu一个yī ge坏人huài rén，还hái想xiǎng杀shā他们tā men。

There was a wicked man who even wanted to kill them.

▸ 哥哥gē ge们men很hěn害怕hài pà，想xiǎng回家huí jiā。

The older brothers were afraid and wanted to go home.

▸ 尼腓ní féi说shuō：“我们wǒ men不能bù néng回去huí qu。我wǒ相信xiāng xìn神shén。”

Nephi said, "We cannot go back. I believe in God."

▸ 晚上wǎn shang，尼腓ní féi一个人yī gè rén进jìn了le城chéng。

At night, Nephi went into the city alone.

▸ 神shén帮助bāng zhù了le他tā，他tā拿到ná dào了le铜tóng页片yè piàn。

God helped him, and he got the brass plates.

▸ 一家人yī jiā rén非常fēi cháng高兴gāo xìng，感谢gǎn xiè神shén。

The whole family was very happy and thanked God.

▸ 尼腓ní féi知道zhī dào，相信xiāng xìn神shén的de人rén，神shén一定yī dìng会huì帮助bāng zhù他tā。

Nephi knew that God will surely help those who believe in Him.
