A long time ago, there was a man named Abraham.

▸ 他tā和hé妻子qī zi撒拉sā lā都dōu老了lǎo le，还hái没有méi yǒu孩子hái zi。

He and his wife Sarah were old, and they still had no children.

▸ 一天yī tiān晚上wǎn shang，神shén对duì亚伯拉罕yà bó lā hǎn说shuō：

One night, God said to Abraham:

▸ “你nǐ看kàn天上tiān shàng的de星星xīng xing。你的nǐ de子孙zǐ sūn会huì像xiàng星星xīng xing一样yī yàng多duō。”

"Look at the stars in the sky. Your descendants will be as many as the stars."

▸ 亚伯拉罕yà bó lā hǎn相信xiāng xìn神shén的话de huà。

Abraham believed God's word.

▸ 很hěn多年duō nián以后yǐ hòu，撒拉sā lā真的zhēn de生shēng了le一个yī ge儿子ér zi。

Many years later, Sarah really did give birth to a son.

▸ 他们tā men给gěi孩子hái zi起qǐ名叫míng jiào以撒yǐ sā。

They named the child Isaac.

▸ 亚伯拉罕yà bó lā hǎn非常fēi cháng爱ài以撒yǐ sā。

Abraham loved Isaac very much.

▸ 有一天yǒu yī tiān，神shén要yào试一试shì yī shì亚伯拉罕yà bó lā hǎn的de心xīn。

One day, God wanted to test Abraham's heart.

▸ 神shén说shuō：“把bǎ你的nǐ de儿子ér zi带dài到dào山上shān shàng，献给xiàn gěi我wǒ。”

God said: "Take your son to the mountain and offer him to me."

▸ 亚伯拉罕yà bó lā hǎn很hěn爱ài儿子ér zi，可是kě shì他tā更gèng相信xiāng xìn神shén。

Abraham loved his son dearly, but he trusted God even more.

▸ 第二天dì èr tiān一早yī zǎo，他tā就jiù带着dài zhe以撒yǐ sā上了shàng le山shān。

Early the next morning, he took Isaac up the mountain.

▸ 就jiù在zài最zuì重要zhòng yào的de时候shí hou，天使tiān shǐ大声dà shēng叫jiào他tā：

At the most important moment, an angel called out to him:

▸ “住手zhù shǒu！不要bù yào伤害shāng hài孩子hái zi！现在xiàn zài我wǒ知道zhī dào你的nǐ de心xīn了le。”

"Stop! Do not hurt the child! Now I know your heart."

▸ 亚伯拉罕yà bó lā hǎn看见kàn jiàn一只yī zhī羊yáng，就jiù把bǎ羊yáng献给xiàn gěi了le神shén。

Abraham saw a ram, and he offered the ram to God.

▸ 神shén说shuō：“因为yīn wèi你nǐ听tīng我wǒ的话de huà，我要wǒ yào给gěi你nǐ很大hěn dà的de福气fú qi。”

God said: "Because you obeyed me, I will give you a great blessing."

▸ 亚伯拉罕yà bó lā hǎn和hé以撒yǐ sā平安píng ān地de回家huí jiā了le。

Abraham and Isaac went home in peace.

▸ 后来hòu lái，他的tā de子孙zǐ sūn真的zhēn de像xiàng天上tiān shàng的de星星xīng xing一样yī yàng多duō。

Later, his descendants really did become as many as the stars in the sky.
