相比而言，美国、德国、英国等国家人民每天平均休闲时间约为5小时，是中国人的两倍以上。
此外，大城市居民每天休闲时间更少，深圳、广州、上海、北京居民每天休闲时间分别是1.94、2.04、2.14和2.25小时。
除了休闲时间不充分之外，由于带薪休假制度还没有落实，中国居民休闲时间也不均衡、不自由。
2011年至2015年以来，居民生活质量逐年提升，但是国民收入提升的同时，工作时间的相应延长压缩了休闲时间。
